About
“Soltani’s artwork has faced criticism for its voyeuristic approach, capturing impoverished lifestyles with an impersonal and objective lens. The meticulous attention to detail in Soltani’s pictures creates a heightened sense of reality, but it also minimizes the artist’s self-expression. Influenced by both abstract expressionism and Pop Art, Soltani’s work often features wrecked cars and dilapidated mobile homes in abandoned Middle Eastern locations. These pieces are painstakingly created by projecting transparencies from photographs onto canvas and meticulously reproducing the colors using brushes and stencils, a process that can take up to six months.Bio
