Pouriya Parhizkar, due to the geometric mechanism of his works, belongs to the category of hermetic abstraction. However, it should not be overlooked that the sources of his art are rooted in Iranian architecture and the visual tradition of woven patterns and local motifs, which make it comprehensible. From this perspective, Parhizkar’s works are, on the one hand, connected to contemporary abstraction and, on the other hand, convey the idea of postmodernists revisiting the mysterious past. He himself believes that his art evokes the passage of time and intensifies the obsession with a state of ennui, and without understanding this characteristic, a morphologic understanding of his work is impossible.
